Royal Ascot Preview, Day Three

 Jun 22 2018

The Group One Gold Cup is the feature race on Day Three of the Royal Ascot carnival and it promises to be a cracking race.

There is little in the betting between the Aidan O’Brien-trained Order Of St George and Stradivarius with Varirabad on the third line of betting.

Order Of St George comes into this race as a last start winner of a listed race at Leopardstown on 25 May. His main challenger in four-year-old, Stradivarius, was a last start winner in the Group Two Desert Skyline at York on 18 May.

The first race of the day is the Group Two Norfolk Stakes at 11.30pm (AEST) and the sixth and final race of the day is the King George V Stakes at 2.35am (AEST).

Sky Racing’s International presenter, Richard Wade, will host the Sky Thoroughbred Central (Ch 528) coverage every night and below gives his thoughts and best bet on Day Three.

All his Day Three tips and previews of each race can be found on the TAB App.

Richard’s One To Watch – Race 4 Gold Cup

This looks another vintage renewal with Order Of St George, Vazirabad and Stradivarius, the leading stayers in Europe. It could be tactical which may play in the hands of Stradivarius.

Another one not to miss – Race 1 Norfolk Stakes

Glory Fighter broke the juvenile course record at Lingfield and is worth a chance at decent odds.

Richard’s Best Bet - Wild Illusion in Race 3 Ribblesdale Stakes

Charlie Appleby's Wild Illusion has Classic form and comes here off the back of a 2nd in the Oaks. She sets a strong standard in this Group 2.
